A view from across the room-

It is a legacy that we are often trying to outrun. A past of exquisite creations that we are avoiding in order to make something new. Creation being a by product of our exploration.

Exploration is, in essence, a form of seeking. A movement toward something, and away from else something. We are constantly moving forward, finding ourselves in the river of time, adrift on that cycle of days and years and decades. Ceaseless and unyeilding to our desires, it drags us away from our past and toward our future.

A lot of words have been written about Artur Majewski's explorations in previous vehicles of time travel. Yet his playing is never found where you last looked. An uncertainty principle that irradiates outward from its source, he is at once sonic conjurer and humble listener. For in order to explore the vast landscapes he has inhabited so deftly over the past two decades one has to be able to listen closely to what is happening.

Vasco Trilla is a time keeper who understands the flexibility of space time. That moldable substance that can be unfolded and compressed, turned inside out to reveal its true shape. Here he is a sophisticated journeyer, a time travel companion who has clearly voyaged over uncharted terrain before.

Together these two move across a range of exchanges, filling a void left by the past in order to propell the listener forward, toward that ever present seeking. For they are more than just players in this game of hide and seek, they are themselves listeners.

A very interesting album. At a few places I keep asking myself: Was this composed by Arnold Schönberg (or his disciples)? Anyway, I'm all for skilled musicians exploring the boundary (if one exists) between jazz and classical. Thumbs up! jyrki63
